Head coach of Kolos, Ruslan Kostyshyn, expressed his disagreement with the outcome of the match in the 21st round of the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) against LNZ (0: 2). The specialist’s words were conveyed by the club’s press service.
Ruslan Kostyshyn’s Assessment of the Match Against LNZ
Ruslan Kostyshyn, in his analysis of the game, stated that he would have called the match a draw due to the even nature of the play. The game featured many moments and attempts from both teams, yet LNZ seemed to have a slight advantage. Kostyshyn noted that while Kolos earned more corner kicks, the match was decided by key moments—specifically, after an own goal, Kolos conceded the first goal, followed by a second goal in what he described as an intriguing sequence.
Kostyshyn further emphasized that despite the unfavorable result, the performance was competitive, and the team’s level of play in moments was commendable. He expressed that the loss was primarily due to isolated episodes rather than an overall lack of cohesion or effort from his squad. According to him, the match was a product of unpredictable moments in football, where individual errors led to goals.
Team Performance and Areas for Improvement
The coach stressed the need to extract maximum effort from his players. He acknowledged that his responsibility was to elevate the team’s performance to a higher level, focusing on improving the collective teamwork and enhancing decision-making on the field. Particularly, Kostyshyn pointed out the lack of fluidity in the team’s off-the-ball movements and the necessity for better pressing and communication during transitions.
Kostyshyn also mentioned that some players, such as Bolivar, were missing from the squad due to injuries, and others, including Elias Teles, had only just returned. The disruption caused by these absences, combined with the players’ lack of integration into the team’s tactical framework, contributed to the imbalance and inconsistency in Kolos’ performance during the match.
Upcoming International Break and Preparations
With an international break on the horizon, Kostyshyn highlighted that the team would now have two days off before resuming training. He indicated that there were numerous aspects of the team’s play that required attention. After the break, the team would engage in a friendly match against Metalist 1925 to further hone their skills before returning to their regular training schedule in preparation for their upcoming fixture against Svitanka.
While Kostyshyn remained optimistic about his team’s prospects, he acknowledged the need for continued improvement in various areas, including fitness, communication, and tactical organization. His comments reflected a commitment to refining Kolos’ performance to achieve better results in future matches.
Earlier, it was reported that Kostyshyn had returned to Dynamo’s ear, Exgraper.
